Raw Kids
Kids thrive
on a raw
diet!
I am a single mother of four. I'm
raising my youngest baby all raw
but my older kids do not want to
be 100% raw. They're not quite
ready to give up their cooked
pleasures. However, they do have
that built-in instinct that tells them
that whenever something goes
wrong, they should go raw.
Whenever my teens get acne, or
one of them gets sick, they want
me to make them a raw meal.
Thankfully, they have the
knowledge about nutrition to be
able to make that judgement call.
Teens definitely need the education about
nutrition given to them in a loving way.
They, of all people, have a great desire to
be healthy. One pimple on their face could
be detrimental to their whole social life (so
it seems)  :)
Whenever I learn something new about
how the raw diet could "cure" the teens, I
share it with them right away. They're
always very open. I also take them to raw
potlucks with me so that they can try new
foods and tell me what all their favorites
are. That way, they will eat a raw dinner
with me. Oh, and they love green
smoothies so that is usually what I make
for breakfast.
Both of my teens love preparing
food, so it helps to get them in
the kitchen making up their own
recipes!
My youngest, Levi, has been all raw including being nursed by a raw
mom. He is obviously very healthy. Some people still do not think that a
raw diet is good for children but there are plenty of raw parents who
are more than willing to prove that theory wrong! Levi has never had a
cold or any other issues...
Even while nursing, I gave him
some of my green smoothie
every day. He loves it.
Introducing colorful foods
to babies is easy!
I understand that not all mothers are able to nurse their babies. I've done a lot of research
into making natural baby formula because the formula on the market has so many nutritional
problems. Besides all the added sugar, it has tons of inorganic chemical ingredients and
synthetic vitamins. It is also acidic to the body. When you think of your baby getting nothing
but acidic formula for the first whole year of their life, it's no wonder why so many babies
suffer from colds, food allergies and infections. People actually think this is normal.
In my research, I did find some good raw formula recipes that I have made. I let my baby try
them to see if they would taste good to him since he is a mostly breastfed baby. Most of
them are made with raw goat milk because it is the animal milk that is closest to our breast
milk in nature.
PLEASE DO NOT GIVE YOUR BABY COWS MILK.
As I was experimenting with different recipes, I met a girl who worked at the health food store
who also knew a lot about it. Apparently, there are a lot of woman making their own baby
formula so KUDOS to all of you. I was VERY cautious about this and tried all ingredients very
carefully and slowly. Here is a good recipe, the best one I found. Please note that I'm not
sure about the PH balance of this recipe. As I fed it to my baby, I also gave him about a cup
of green smoothie every day with some
Vitamineral Greens to help with keeping him
alkaline. That part was my choosing.
*** A note on baby formula***
Baby Formula
  • 2 cups raw goat milk
  • 2 cups rice milk (or 1 cup coconut milk and 1 cup
    rice milk)
  • daily infant vitamins (buy the natural kind at a health
food store and read the instructionson how much to use
    for a daily dose)
  • 1 daily dose of trace minerals (if the vitamins
    don't already have it.)
  • 1 tablespoon blackstrap molasses
  • 1/8  teaspoon powdered wheatgerm
  • 1 tablespoon flax seed oil
  • liquid Cal/Mag supplement(read directions on
    bottle for daily dosage)
  • 1 teaspoon liquid vitamin C
  • liquid acidophilus(again, read instructions)
  • Sweeten a little with either maple syrup or
brown rice syrup. My baby seemed to like the
    brown rice syrup.

A variation of this recipe could be to add 1 cup of coconut milk
and 1 cup rice milk instead of 2 cups rice milk. This is what the
girl at the health food store suggested and my baby liked it a
lot. Also, the recipe calls for wheatgerm but I really didn't use it.
We just did better without it. I know that you want the best for
your baby, so do some research. There are a lot of articles on
making baby formula. Here is a really good link.
