| Ok, let's get down to the nitty-gritty! 1. First of all, you must do a kitchen cleanse. GET ALL THE JUNK FOOD OUT OF YOUR HOUSE! Even if you won't be 100% raw at first, you should still try to at least eat all natural and healthy foods. After all, the idea is to rid our bodies of disease causing toxins, so why would we keep putting them into us? The more we put them into us, the less our body will detoxify because the toxins enter our bloodstream and the liver won't release toxins if our bloodstream is already full. 2. Find a couple favorite raw recipes to get you going. This will help you get excited about going raw, and it could very well help you stay raw in the midst of second thoughts. It happens to everyone. There will be a time of discouragement so be prepared. We need to find ways to keep ourselves inspired. If you make a dish that you don't like, then don't make it again. Remember you're experimenting the same as you would with cooked food recipes. Use your favorite fruits or vegetables at first, then start buying strange uncommon ones just to try new things and have fun. Whenever I would get discouraged and think that I tried everything and it was all boring, I would then make myself a decadent guilt-free chocolate desert and I would get excited all over again. The fact is, whether we think so or not, we have an addiction to cooked food and we have to get over it just like any other addiction. This is harder for some, but NOT impossible! Be strong and keep asking yourself, do you want to live disease free, healthy and thin forever? Cooked food brings us a familiar pleasure and false feeling of being "full", but raw food brings us a freedom and unlimited energy and we never ever have to worry about our health again, and just think, as soon as you're over your addiction, you won't even crave the things that you use to. Your mind will be changed, your taste buds will be cleansed to know what's good and what's not and you will be able to listen to your body that will be desiring only the foods that you need. 3. Stock your kitchen and PLAY, PLAY, PLAY! Now it's time to find out what you like to prepare, what flavors you like to create, and what you will need to create them. What types of spices do you like? What equipment do you like to use? Dig through recipe books at the library or bookstore and come up with tons that you want to try. Invite friends over and have fun with it. If you have kids, get them involved. The world of raw food is so vast and versatile that if you really get into it, you will be busy creating all kinds of your own tasty ideas. You might not even notice that you're already starting to lose weight. Most of all, make it fun and easy. Keep raw snacks on hand at all times especially if you're a busy person. Keep some fruit in your car (unless it's really hot) to keep the drive-thru temptation away. Try making dehydrated crackers with different dips for when you just want to reach in your fridge and grab something. You can also pre-prepare salads (without the dressing) and leave them in the fridge ready to eat. Check out our recipe page for some great snack ideas. Home Recipes |
